Wake Up!'s Photo Exhibition Opening Night is on the 26 March, 2008 at the Royal Newcastle Centre, John Hunter Hospital.
Time: 5.30pm-8.30pm
Through holding this event, our aims are to:
a) Provide a focal point in raising awareness of global health inequalities in both the medical and wider Newcastle community.
b) Provide a forum where medical students can become involved in advocacy, education and activism in the issue of health inequality
c) Raise the public awareness of Wake Up! as an activism and educational group.
It is held in conjunction with a Birthing Kit Assembly Night, which will provide safe and clean births for mothers in developing countries.
Prizes will be given out on the night.

Australia and Beyond is Wakeup's 1st Photo competition/exhbition.
Theme: Hope and Life

How to enter:
- send all entries to wakeupphotocomp@gmail.com\
- together with the photos, include:
(a) the title
(b) the artist
(c) place photo was taken
(d) a short description of the photo and context(max 150-200words)
(e) the category
- max 2 photos per person
Who can enter:
Any Newcastle Med student who has digital photos taken in devloping countries or rural Australia(not confined to 3rd-5th yr students who have done their Health Equity Selective). 1st and 2nd years can enter as well if they have relevant photos.
